For a long time, there are users complaining about the connectivity in the app. They lost connections either with Prepar3D/FSX/X-Plane or with the other half of G1000(PFD/MFD). My recent research shows that all those are caused by the reliability of the wifi network. It’s not a matter of the quality of the wifi signal(of course bad signals always lead to low network reliability), but the load on the network, in other words, how busy the network is. Your may have a very good signal on the wifi connection, you may even downloading or watching HD movies online without any sluggishness, but you may experience continuous connection lost in the G1000 apps. That is because the network band width is occupied by other applications that the app cannot transimit or receive data frequently enought to keep the app act smoothly or even lose the connection. The key to keep the connection is not how fast the communication is(like watching online movies), but how continuous it is. So keep other applications from occupying the network band width is important to avoid loss of connection for the G1000 apps.
I will make modifications to the brdige and the app, adding some auto reconnecting function to compensate the lost of connection when under such wifi condition. Please sitck around for the updates. But remember, the key to ensure a smoothly experience is to reduce network load.
Is there going to be a fix for this loss of connectivity? It is sporadic.
Auto connection has been implemented in the latest version. But it’s important that you have good network environment since the communication is real time.
it seems very bad on my computer, couldn’t use it at all. do you have any recm. for the wifi router?
It shouldn’t be the wifi router unless it’s malfunctioning. The most important is to insure you have good signals on all the devices and there is no other programs like video streaming apps occupying the network constantly.
Dear friends,
Do you have any suggestions for a router model or brand? I am very disappointed because the frequent connection loss makes the app unusable. Even without any other device or software on the network in dual-band connection, there is no way to make it work. Please suggest any solutions to fix this problem.
Simionic G1000Bridge to G1000 PFD on iPad:
https://www.simionic.net/wordpress/about-the-connections-reliability/
I have done everything I can to reduce network traffic, but G1000Bridge is unusable, it constantly oscillates between “Sim connection lost” and “FSX from 192.168.etc.” When I fly the sim, nothing happens on the G1000 on the iPad. Similarly, when I press buttons on the ipad, nothing changes in the Sim. No other app I’m using suffers from this issue (including MSFSBridge to SkyDemon, which is a very similar application, and which I switched OFF to test if it made any difference to G1000Bridge).
Can you perhaps make the program work via USB cable from iPad to PC to eliminate this problem? or use some other middleware like MSFSBridge?
Or: if I buy the H1000MCombo(with 2 LCD displays), will that eliminate this issue because I don’t need the iPad any more?
I just found that on the latest iOS the apps cannot broadcast to detect the bridge anymore. An update will be soon available(in days). Stay tuned.
is there any news on possible update to rectify the connection issues
And, the LCDs are used for directly control the built-in G1000. There will be no network involved when using the LCDs.
any idea when there may be an update to resolve this issue?
We are now Mar 2025 and I have purchased the Simionic G1000 & Audio with LCD Combo. Scheduled to arrive this Tuesday. I haven’t found any recent Youtube videos about it so I’m rather excited to see what the latest NXI version can do! By the way, I’m using MSFS 2020 with the Elite PI-135 + AP4000 Radio/Avionics stack (FAA Approved Pro Panel II) and Elite hardware interface software for use with MSFS 2020. Obviously, when not operating in the Elite system, is not FAA Approved but as an FAA CFI/CFII and retired DPE, I think the extra training possibilities will be invaluable! Of course the Simionic devices won’t work with the Elite software but you never know what may happen in the future.
I promptly received my new G1000/Audio combo.
I am incredibly impressed with the units themselves however I did have an issue that I could not fix.
My order included two LCD screens instead of iPads. One of the screens had a conflict. It would cause the display manager of the PC to kick on and off so not useable. In any case, I was never able to get either one to function at all i.e., display the G1000s in MSFS 2020. I tried checking the internal IPad/PC switches but both were set correctly however, the bezels did connect but not sure if they were working correctly at that point.
Awhile back, I had purchased two new 10 Generation iPads since I wanted to try out the Sinionic apps before purchasing the bezels. So, I removed the LCD screens and installed the iPads. Absolutely fantastic results. (Win 11 & G1000NXI apps) I am extremely impressed with these units.
However, just one point to bring up. The accompanying manuals and the downloadable manuals are a bit sketchy on a couple of issues. The manual shows that if using the IPad, you can plug the IPad USB connector into the slot the LCD was connected to or that you could just run the IPad charging cable out one of the holes in the back cover.
I discovered that if the IPad 10 generation is connected as the first choice that the manual suggests (internally with only one external USB connector so that the IPad Charge cable and Bezel power are on the same USB connector) my IPads will only run until their internal batteries are completely depleted. So, not only will they not charge but will not activate by disconnecting and reconnecting the charging cable. And, the power button is also not accessible in this configuration. So, I had to open them back up.
After having said all that, my end configuration is two IPad 10th generation & two usb cables each. I could not be happier with the results. I am extremely pleased with these units and I highly recommend them! By the way, in this configuration, I turn them off by going into settings, general & shutdown. To turn them on, I just unplug and plug in the charging cable for the IPads. Perfect!!
